About Me

I started my baking journey when I was in Kindergarten and quickly realized that this was my passion. 

I used to bake with my grandma as a kid and then started to experiment with recipes on my own. At the age of 12, I took a 3 week cake decorating course. Before this I had never tried decorating a cake but I knew that this was something I wanted to learn. I was the only kid in the class as everyone else was much older than me but that just motivated me even more to do my very best. After taking the course I made my mom take me to Michaels and buy all the cake decorating supplies I could find. I then began practicing by making all the family birthday cakes and baking whenever I wasn’t in school. This is when I decided that I wanted to make a career out of this which is how Cakes by Chesna began. 

I decided that I would go to culinary school after university and open up my own bakery. So while in my first year at BCIT as a business student, I got a job working as a cake decorator at a local bakery as my first step to achieving my dreams. However, when COVID hit that bakery shut down. This gave me an opportunity to open up my own custom cake business now known as Cakes by Chesna.
